The Chief Instructor.

Mike Morningstar began his training in Taekwon-Do at the age of 18 achieving his Black Belt in 1987. Mr. Morningstar is a certified 5th Degree (C-5-31) Black Belt International Instructor and is also certified by the International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF) as an Examiner and Referee.

In 1998 Mr. Morningstar was personally awarded his 5th Degree Black Belt by the founder of Taekwon-Do General Choi Hong Hi and has maintained this rank since the passing of the founder in 2002.

Not only does Mr. Morningstar teach all classes at the main location but he also travels across Canada and the USA conducting seminars and trainings. Mr. Morningstar had assisted the Founder of Taekwon-Do conducting seminars in such countries as Canada, USA, Czech Republic, Sweden, Greece, North Korea and Japan.

4th Dan Instructors.

Derek Morningstar.

Derek Morningstar was born in Scarborough, Ontario and began his training in 1988 earning his ITF 1st degree (Dan) Black Belt in 1992. Mr.Morningstar is currently certified ITF 4th Degree (Dan) International Instructor.

In 1992, Mr. Morningstar competed at the Canadian National Championships and earned himself a silver medal in patterns. He has also attend numerous ITF Technical Seminars with various Masters and Instructors. Mr. Morningstar has since retired from competition to focus on teaching and his own personal study of Taekwon-Do.

Mr. Morningstar also has 2 sons, Jake who is a 1st Degree Black Belt and Adam, who is currently a black stripe with hopes of soon following in his fathers and brothers footsteps by achieving his Black Belt as well.

Mark Silva.

Mr. Mark Silva was born in Toronto, Ontario on April 24th, 1978. Mark began his Taekwon-Do training in 1988 and was certified as an International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF) Black Belt on March 9, 1991. Mark Silva is currently a certified 4th Dan (Degree) Black Belt.

Mark’s competitive history includes numerous tournaments across Canada and the United States, with success at both the national and international level. In 2004 Mark was a gold medalist in both Men’s Hyper-Weight Sparring and 3rd Dan Patterns, and was a silver medalist in Men’s Power Breaking at the Canadian Championships. As a result, Mark was selected to represent Canada and compete at the 13th International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF) World Championships, held in South Korea. Mark was given the opportunity to compete as both an individual and as a member of the Canadian Men’s Team.

Outside of Taekwon-Do, Mark attended St. Thomas Aquinas Secondary School in Oakville where he graduated in 1997. In 2001 Mark graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Arts. Mark currently works as a Dealer Analyst for Wells Fargo.

Roland Klassen .

Roland Klassen began training in Taekwon-do in 1995, to celebrate his 40th birthday and to spend more time with his 2 children, who began training several months earlier. He tested for his first degree in December 1998 and his second degree in September 2001.

Scott Seguin.

Scott Seguin was born and raised in Oakville, Ontario. Scott first started training in Taekwon-Do in 1999 under Mr. Morningstar and was certified as a 1st Degree (Dan) black belt in June 2003, 2nd Dan black belt in June 2005 and 3rd Dan in June 2009.

Scott has attended numerous tournaments across Canada and the United States. In 2004 Scott competed at the Canadian National Championships and was a gold medalist in both 1st Dan patterns and Middle-weight sparring. This earned Scott the opportunity to represent Canada at the 13th International Taekwon-Do Federation (ITF) World Championships in South Korea. In 2006, Scott won a gold medal in 2nd Dan patterns at the Canadian National Championships and represented Canada at the 2007 ITF World Championships in Quebec, Canada.

In addition to traveling across both Canada and the United States to attend numerous technical seminars, Scott has attended the following International Instructors Courses given by the President of the ITF and members of it’s Technical Committee:

Outside of Taekwon-Do, Scott attended St. Thomas Aquinas Secondary School in Oakville where he graduated with honours in 1999. In 2004 Scott graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Commerce. Scott was also an accomplished competitive swimmer where he was a Halton champion in the 200-metre freestyle and swam for many years as a member of the Oakville Aquatic Club (OAK). Scott currently works as an Auditor for Audit Services Canada, a department of the Federal Government of Canada.

3rd Dan Instructors.

Doreen Morningstar.

Doreen Morningstar was born in Singapore, and moved to Ottawa, Ontario in 1986. She started training in Taekwon-Do in 1994 earning her 1st degree black belt in 1998. Doreen moved to Oakville in 2003.

Doreen has attended numerous tournaments and seminars earning a Bronze medal in the 2002 International Master Choi’s Cup and a Silver medal in the 2003 Pan American Championships. In 2002 Doreen achieved her 3rd degree black belt.

Outside of Taekwon-Do, Doreen attended Carleton University graduating with high honours and a Bachelor of Commerce degree with a concentration in accounting. In 2009, Doreen graduated from the University of Toronto (OISE) with a Bachelor of Education. She is currently an elementary school teacher with the Halton District School Board.
